HYBRID: Four Days a Week

Students who have declared in-person will begin attending Tuesday-Friday on the block schedule on March 23.  The challenge for us is accommodating the students who are not able to be in the classroom space while still maintaining 6-ft. between students.  There is not one path moving forward and each path has challenges.  For most spaces, capacity is around 16 students.   This number could grow if additional desks can be added and:
  • 6-feet spacing maintained at all times;
  • No doors are blocked;
  • No paths to exit the room are blocked;
  • The student(s) are provided an equitable place to work;
  • In larger spaces, the total person count cannot exceed 50.
Department chairs will be reviewing room set-ups prior to or on Monday, March 22. 

In planning for overflow students (students who will Zoom in from another location in the school), please take these things into account:

Things You Need to Consider


  • Be transparent with students before 3/23 about your plan
  • Plan long-term: A rotation could last several weeks
  • Consider dividing a lesson in two 35m sessions and rotating 2 groups, on occasion.
  • Use your PLC to brainstorm ideas

Things You Should Avoid


  • Using grades, cameras on/off or tardiness as a criteria or preference
  • Using IEP or 504 status as a sole indicator
  • Allowing students to choose or self-select their status
  • Students on the floor outside your door
We are not suggesting ONE PLAN of action. This process must reflect your roster load, your course & curriculum, your physical space and other factors.
