What to Expect...

Below is an outline of 4 phases of construction and infrastructure improvements at MAIN, from March, 2026 to August, 2028.   There will be a combination of new construction, heavy interior remodeling, and upgrades to lighting, flooring, ceilings, and building control systems.  HERE is the initial phasing plan for BFC.

MARCH, 2026


Starting:
1. The front addition will modify how we enter and exit the building as Doors #1 and #2 will be closed, along with the front circle area and drive.  Door #3 will serve as our single, secure entry.  Doors #14, #46 and #53 will be accessible in the morning. Back doors #23 and #28 and side Door #7 will be accessible to staff. 

2. A back addition will prohibit all staff parking in the back and close Doors #24-27.  Student bus drop and entry will be between the B and C wings, Doors #21 and 22.  

Spaces boxed/empty by 9:00am, March 27, 2026: Forum Rooms (C200, C202, C204)
  • There will be a temporary wall constructed across the upper Rotunda

Spaces boxed/empty by 9:00am, May 29, 2026: B214, C212, C112, D119, D117, D115, C214, D215, D217, D219
We will also be creating new emergency procedures related to exiting.

JUNE, 2026


Starting:
1. Current maintenance and custodial offices and storage will be relocated to create space for a new Cardio Lab. 

2. Leveling of B214 will begin, ready for August, 2026 - Empty by May 29, 2026

3. Leveling of C212 will begin, ready for August, 2026 - Empty by May 29, 2026

4. Light Infrastructure will begin in the E wing.  This will require flexibility as crews work in large spaces to upgrade lighting, flooring, ceilings, and building control systems.

There will also be a temporary wall constructed along the main hallway on the 1st and 2nd floor.  This wall will follow the arc of the brick pillars, and will divide the hallway from the current rows of lockers.  Creating this wall allows for crews to access the interior of the building without disrupting specific interior learning spaces.

SCHOOL YEAR, 2026-2027


This will be a challenging year as there will be ongoing projects in front and back of the building. These will restrict the use of certain classrooms in order to prepare for operational and utility connections.  We will have new opportunities in the forum rooms, B214, C212, and the Cardio Lab.

JUNE, 2027


Starting:
1. Light infrastructure work in the C and D wings, 1st and 2nd floors. 


2. Special Education Suite - Back of Lower D


3. Creation of Upper D Back hallway


4. Demolition of B100 and the conversion to 4 classrooms.  Empty on or prior to June 1, 2027


5. Demolition of D100 and the conversion to 4 classrooms. Empty on or prior to June 1, 2027


6. Class Houses Conversion - All four empty. Empty on or prior to June 1, 2027


7. Main Office Conversion. Empty on or prior to June 1, 2027


8. Nurses Office Conversion. Empty on or prior to June 1, 2027

  • Copy Room Equipment moved. Empty on or prior to June 1, 2027

9. Science Office Conversion. Empty on or prior to June 1, 2027

10. Social Studies Office:  
Empty on or prior to June 1, 2027


11. Commons Remodel and Expansion. Empty on or prior to June 1, 2027
  • Faculty Cafe.  Empty on or prior to June 1, 2027
  • Rooms D141, D143, D145.  Empty on or prior to June 1, 2027


12. Rooms to be combined: B203/205, D103/105, D203/205.  Empty on or prior to June 1, 2027


13. Additional Stairwells build in the current vestibules #21/22 and #25/26
