Quarantined Students
One of the lingering challenges of this year will be students who are quarantined and providing them some level of service. We have shared expectations with students and families. In part, these expectations speak to our responsibilities as well.
We will use Google Meet to livestream classes to students. Teachers will determine the days and lessons they want to make available via Livestream. While not an expectation every day, Google Meet should be utilized during some part of each week that a student is under quarantine. Google Classroom integrates seamlessly with Google Meet:
There is no expectation that you respond in chat, interact with the student(s), or stream every day.
Attendance and Communication
Students will be coded in Synergy with “RAB,” which is a restricted absence and indicates they are out. There is nothing you need to mark in terms of attendance. Jenn Buedel, our at-risk teacher, will provide you a timeline of when the student is out and when he or she will return.
What should I do after I learn that one of my students is quarantined?
What should I do after I learn that one of my students is quarantined?
- Share with the student via email or Google Classroom your intentions about streaming so he or she can be ready.
- Include the dates you will livestream and any other resources needed in order to stay on track in your class.
- Ask your Department Chair for a Jabra Speaker and/or webcam, if needed.
- Share your intentions for how you will handle assessments, if applicable.
- Keep your Google Classroom up-to-date with postings so a student can track their responsibilities.
